He and Doris and their two children lived in Westbrook at the time of the 1940 census. He worked 72 hours per week on a dairy farm. He and Doris each had an eighth-grade education. He earned $650 in 1939. Five years earlier, he and Doris had lived in Wilkin County, Minnesota.
He survived his sister who died in 2005.

Funeral services were held for Louis Bloch Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook, MN. Officiating was Rev. Roy Williams and organist was Betty Rupp. Honorary casket bearers were Kory Olson, Chad Bloch, Tom Burns, Jeffory Bloch, Tyson Bloch, Doug Burns. Interment was in the Westbrook Cemetery, Westbrook, MN.
Louis Harald Bloch was born July 30, 1914 to Albert and Anna (Rachuy) Bloch on a farm near Currie, MN, Murray County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended country school. As a young man he worked on the family farm and assisted many neighbors with their farm work.
In 1935, Louis married Doris Toso and they made their home near Breckinridge, MN. He drove truck and worked as a hired man for a short time before going to work for the Wilson Ranch near Foxhome, MN. In the early 1940’s they moved to Westbrook, MN and Louis worked for the Westbrook Dairy and later as a hired man on the Caesar Carlson farm outside of Westbrook.
On April 22, 1961 Louis married Virginia Scarset and they made their home in Marshall, MN. Louis went to work at the Rendering Plant in Marshall until they moved back to Westbrook, where he went to work for the Westbrook Elevator until his retirement in the mid-70’s. He continued to work as a hired man for several area farmers for many years.
Louis enjoyed fishing in his younger years, following the Minnesota Twins and traveling around the area visiting many old friends in his later years. In September of 2005 Louis became a resident of the Martin Luther Manor in Bloomington, MN, where he died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the age of 91.
Survivors include his daughter LaDonna (Mandy) Olson of Alexandria, MN; sons, Deland (Sharon) Bloch and Dennis Scarset, both of Savage, MN; step-sons, Bruce and Greg; one step-daughter, Diane; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His wife, Virginia, one step-son, one step-daughter, infant twin granddaughters, one brother, Arnold, and one sister, Frieda Burns preceded him in death.
