  Notes	Walter was born Walter E. Hand in Gold Hill, Nevada. His father was H. W. Hand, a mining engineer, born in Massachusetts ca. 1849, and his mother was Eliza Ann Marshall, born of Mc Lean and Abigail Marshall in Vermont ca. 1849. H. W. and Eliza were married and in Nevada in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. H. W. was probably the Horrace W. Hand who is shown in the 1850 census as the 2 year old son of George W. and Chastina Hand of Dracut, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. A Horace W. Hand, no age shown, of Gold Hill, married Isabel Forsythe, 25, of Reno, in Storey County, Nevada, on March 4, 1885. In the 1900 census, Horace Hand is still living in Gold Hill with Isabel, their daughter, and Horace’s niece and her two children. Horace, 81, was still in Nevada at the time of the 1930 census, living with his daughter Myrtle and her family in Carson City. In the 1900 census, Walter E. Stephenson (indexed as Steffenson), 27 (Feb 1873), is single and a purchasing agent living in Minneapolis. He was born in Nevada, his father was born in Maine, his mother was born in Vermont. In the 1910 census, Walter and Lucile have been married for 3 years and have no children. At that time they were living at 2734 Colfax Ave. So. Walter is 37 and Lucile is 27. Walter’s parents were both born in Maine. Walter works for an electrical engineering company. At the time of Patricia’s birth, the family was living at 2420 West 24th Street in Minneapolis and Walter’s occupation is shown as “wholesale electric supplies.” Walter Ernest Stephenson registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, in Minneapolis. His death certificate describes him as a secretary-treasurer of a wholesale electric equipment company. The informant for the death certificate information was his daughter, Patricia S. Bergh. Walter and Patricia had the same address, 2420 West 24th Street. His obit said that he was secretary and treasurer of Sterling Electric Co. He was a member of the Minneapolis Athletic Club, Kiwanis club, Interlachen Golf club, Khurum lodge 112, AF & AM, Scottish Rite, Zuhrah temple, and North Central Electrical association.
