  Notes	In the 1900 census (June 2), Frank and his family were living in the village of Pepin, Pepin County, Wisconsin. (Indexed as “Lean Engler!”) The family consisted of Frank Engles, 32, born in June 1868, Etta, 20, born in January of 1879 or 1880, Helen, 1, born in Aug of 1898, and “Baby,” born in September of 1899. Etta had had two children, both still living. Everyone was born in Wisconsin. Frank’s and Etta’s fathers were born in Germany and their mothers in Pennsylvania. Frank owns the farm that they live on without a mortgage. Frank’s occupation is illegible but it’s not farmer. It may be butcher. Shown as Frank R. Engels in the 1910 census (April 18th). At that time, the family lived in Baden Township in Ward County, North Dakota. Frank was a farmer. He owned his farm with a mortgage. The family consisted of Frank R., 40, Etta J., 30, Helen B., 11, Gertrude, 10, August D., 6, and Viva, 4. August and Viva were born in North Dakota. Everyone else was born in Wisconsin. Frank and Etta had been married for 12 years. Etta had had 4 children, all still living. Frank’s and Etta’s fathers were born in Germany. Frank’s mother was born in Pennsylvania and Etta’s mother was born in the U.S. In the probate records for his father’s estate, he is listed as Frank R. Engel, son, town of Garfield, Wisconsin.
