- He enlisted in the Army in Milwaukee on 8 Sep 1942. At that time he lived in Crawford County and was single and without dependents. His civilian occupation was as a semi-skilled mechanic or repairman of motor vehicles. He had been educated through grammar school. The article describing his wedding to Mildred says that he was discharged from the Army in November of 1945 after service three years “in the Mediterranean areas with the anti-aircraft.” The article added that Lyle “now operates the Blackhawk service station.”
The U.S. Public Records Index, Vol. 1, shows him and Mildred living in Portage, Wisconsin, as of 1984.
According to the Ender Baldwin Total Tree on Ancestry.com, Lyle and his family lived in Mt. Sterling when the children were born. They later moved to the Madison-Portage area.
His obit notes that he had been a maintenance worker at Meriter-Madison General Hospital for 22 years.
