- He came to the U.S. at age 18. His surname in Sweden would have been Jansson. His father came from the same part of Värmland as Klara Landstrom’s family.
He made his declaration of intention to become a citizen of the U.S. in Brooklyn, N.Y. on August 16, 1923. At that time he resided ar 409 Bergen Street in Brooklyn. He arrived in the U.S. on August 2, 1923, at Niagara Falls by walking across the bridge from Canada.
In the 1940 Minneapolis city directory, he and Margery lived at 2812 Harriet Avenue. He was a foreman.
When he registered for the draft in Minneapolis in February of 1943, he and “Mrs. Margy Johnson” lived at 1822 Park Avenue in Minneapolis. He worked for New Foundland Construction. He was missing two fingers.
In the 1950 census, he and Margery and Rolf lived in Sr. Louis Park. He was a carpenter foreman for a building construction firm.
In June of 1951, he and Margery and Rolf, took a ship to Sweden. They are recorded as arriving back in the U.S., at Ellis Island, on July 31st.
His wife, Margery, was the informant for his death certificate. He was superintendent of construction at Madson Construction Co. He was not a vet. He lived at 3217 Webster in St. Louis Park. He died of lung cancer.
