  Notes	Wallace G Dale, age 80 of Webster, MN passed away on March 11, 2024. Wally was an action guy and rarely stood still.  He was born on April 4, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, and six months later moved with his parents to Bloomington, Minnesota, where he grew up with his older sister Mary, brother Jeff, and younger sister Sandy, graduating from Bloomington High School.  He went into the Army Reserve and after he came back from boot camp in 1965, he met Lynn at a party.  Since it was winter, he followed her and her friend to ensure they made it safely home, because that is the kind of person he was.   Wally studied at Dunwoody Institute and became a Tool & Die maker, mold maker, and machinist in 1966.  Wally and Lynn got married on November 2, 1968. In those days, his action side was spent racing motorcycles on dirt tracks around Minnesota and Iowa, and keeping his Harley-Davidson racing bike in shape.  Given that the prizes from motorcycle racing were small, he and Lynn took to the air, taking flying lessons. Wally became an FAA-certified Private Pilot, Single-Engine, Land and Sea. Flying was truly Wally’s passion.  He bought a J3 Piper Cub, and he and Lynn would take flying vacations, just the two of them - because that’s all the plane could hold.   He became an FAA-certified Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic in 1973 and worked for Northwest Airlines.  Wally used his many mechanical skills, and many weekends, working on projects for friends, family, and acquaintances.  It seemed there were almost no limits to the things he could do with tools and machinery.  Still later, he returned to Dunwoody and got his HVAC certification.     During the first years of their marriage, Wally and Lynn lived in what is now Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve in Savage.  In 1977, Wally and Lynn bought the home and ten acres at Webster, Minnesota.  They ran a hobby farm for a while, had a huge garden, and Wally decided to buy some beef cattle.  He had a herd of up to 12 Black Angus at one time.  One memorable summer he also kept two pigs.  He grew and baled alfalfa for the cattle, and taught the girls how to throw bales and the “joy” of picking rocks.   When the family was young, they enjoyed many camping trips and even cabin trips that were fly-in only.  Many memorable trips to Crane Lake, Johnson Lake, Lake Jeanette, and the Black Hills/Badlands resulted. One year he bought an old camping trailer and took the whole family to the EAA Fly-In at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where they were able to see the Concorde supersonic jet airliner.  Wally later trained in aerobatic flying and became a club member and part-owner of a  Super Decathlon aerobatic plane. Wally loved to give anyone a thrilling aerobatic ride. He and Lynn took several flying trips together to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and out to Shelby, Montana, where they hired a mountain pilot to fly them over the Rockies. In 2010, Wally became a grandpa to “the ladies,” Vala and Beatrix, whom he loved with all his heart.  He loved to play games with them and to walk around the farm with them. In later years, Wally loved his “herd” of shop cats, as well as his beloved house cats.  He very much enjoyed feeding all the wild things around the homestead as well, including the birds, deer, and even the raccoons.  He ran through many jars of grape jelly for the orioles on a regular basis.  After many health hurdles, Wally passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Lodges of Burnsville, attended by their caring staff and those of Hospice of the Midwest.  He passed with family by his side, surrounded by nature, in the middle of Alimagnet Park, with soft music and the sound of birdcalls in his ears. Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace S. Dale and Frances Pryzmus Dale; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lennon May and Charles W. May, and Sandra Dale McPheeters and Roy L. McPheeters, and his niece, Lee Ann McPheeters Mason. He is survived by Lynn Storlie Dale, his loving and much-loved wife of 55 years.  He is also survived by his daughters and their families, Bobbie Dale and Jon Falconer, and Erica Dale Southward and James Southward, and his beloved granddaughters, Vala and Beatrix Southward.
