He was survived by his wife Betsy, a son at Carl, still at home, a son Martin, and a daughter Mrs. Henry M. Hanson of Blanchardville. He was also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Mickelson of Durand and Mrs. Andrew Paulson of Rice Lake. There is some confusion about the name of his first wife. Some sources say Gunhild or Gunhild Christiansmoen, some say Karine, some say Julia or Julia Mikkelson. Find A Grave believes she’s Gunhild Haraldsdatter, b. Oct 1860. In the 1900 census, he is a widower. He owns a farm in Vermont Twp, Dane County. Living with him is Martin, 13, and Alma, 9.
