    Notes
    • Lucy May Hoyme, 92, of Osseo, WI, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010, at her home. A gentle woman has left this world a better place.

Lucy May was born on May 20, 1917, in Osseo to Fred and Vera (Gilbertson) Nelson. She was baptized on July 1, 1917, at Price Lutheran Church. She was raised in Osseo and graduated from Osseo Lincoln High School in 1935. On August 18, 1940, she married Norman Hoyme at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church. Norm and Lucy May lived in Edgerton, Beaver Creek and Jasper, all in Minnesota, before returning to Wisconsin in 1958 where they lived in Augusta before returning to Osseo in 1972 where Lucy May once again lived in her childhood home until the time of her death.

Lucy May's life was guided by the simple values of family, friends and faith. There truly was little else that mattered to her and she has passed these values onto her children and their children as well.

Lucy May is survived by her four sons, Jon (Ruth) of Slayton, MN, Steve of Marinette, WI, Fred (Bonnie) of Rio, WI, and Rick (Diane) of Chippewa Falls, WI. Ten grandchildren also survive her, Jon's children, Kristin Hentges, Sarah Kepler, Greg Hoyme and Ann Ferguson; Steve's children, Kim LaLonde and Eric Hoyme; Fred's children, Chris Hoyme and Becky Desjarlais; Rick's children, Katie Helmink and Laura Hoyme. These children are blessed her with 13 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two brothers, Howard (Jane) Nelson of Milaca, MN, and Jerry (Mary) Nelson of Clitherall, MN; one brother-in-law, Vern Dewitz of Eau Claire, WI; one sister-in-law, Esther Hoyme of Jasper, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucy May was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, in 1979; her mother and father; her brothers, Robert, Richard and William; and her sister, Hope Dewitz; and her infant great-grandson, Isaak Hentges.

Lucy's family is grateful to her many, many friends and neighbors who made it possible for Lucy to remain in the home she loved as her eyesight dimmed and her body began to grow frail. The love and care of the community of Osseo, her church and especially her niece Kay and nephew Bill (Sheila), her neighbors Char and John Pierce, Red Bratsven and Nancy, Margaret Johnson and Lucy's many friends who were always there to give her rides and provide her with friendship, made her last years on this earth a blessing that too few will ever know.
