She graduated from high school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and later worked for Pepsi Co, where she was a bookkeeper in the corporate office in Sioux Falls. Iola married Edward Perry Edman on October 24, 1948. Iola is survived by her son and daughter and their families, including two grandchildren. She also is survived by her sister, Donna Faye (Jim) Walden of Sioux Falls, and their children.
