    • On June 28, 1920 as Henry W. Fisher Jr., he married Gladys L. Helgesen at the District of Columbia. In 1937 he married Margaret Skelton Atwood at Worcester, Massachusetts.

      Henry W. Fisher Jr. was the owner and operator of the H.W. Fisher and Son specialty grocer in Georgetown. It was open for 104 years. The store was founded in 1861 and pioneered retail sales of frozen foods in the District of Columbia in the 1930s. He was born in the District and attended George Washington University. During World War I he served in the Navy. He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Board of Trade and the advisory board of the Riggs Bank. He was a former member of the Board of Trustees and the official board of Foundry Methodist Church. He was Recording Secretary of the Board of Directors of the District Young Men’s Christian Association and the board of the Methodist Home. He died at age 68 at his Chevy Chase home of a heart attack. Survivors included his wife, Margaret A. Fisher and two sons, John A. and Christopher Fisher, all of 4601 Merivale Road in Chevy Chase; one son, Henry W. Fisher III of Whittier, California and three daughters: Mrs. Harriet F. Bradley [1921-2013], a member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors of 828 Mackall Avenue in McLean, Virginia; Mrs. Jean F. Holmes [later married to Richard Arnold; 1922-1998] of DeWitt, New York and Mrs. Margaret F. Scott [married John Howard Scott] of Winnetka, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth F. Miller of Scarsdale, New York; Mrs. Carlyle Spiers of Rye, New York and Mrs. Louise Stumpe of Philadelphia. Services were held at Foundry Methodist Church at 16rh and P Streets Northwest. The family request expressions of sympathy to the Welfare Fund of Foundry Church or the Camp Letts Fund of the District YMCA.
