  Notes	Gaasedelen, Newell Orville "Onie" age 98 of Eden Prairie, formerly of Edina, passed away September 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Nils Ole Gaasedelen, his mother, Isabel Naeseth, and his brother Francis Wilbur Gaasedelen. He is survived by his son, Jon (Marilyn Listvan); daughter, Barbara; and son, James (Allison) and grandson, Erik. Onie was born in Minneapolis, MN and attended the University of Minnesota graduating with a BBA. He also attended Harvard Business School where he received an MBA. He served in the US Navy during WW II and was stationed in the South Pacific aboard the USS Tryon. After WW II he was called back to serve during the Korean Conflict. He remained in the Naval Reserves completing twenty years of military service. He achieved the rank of Commander. Onie was the administrator of the Minneapolis Teacher's Pension Fund which he ran until his retirement in 1985. Onie's hobby was aviation. He and his brother, Fran, owned several planes together over the years and enjoyed using them for pleasure trips both short and long. He was also a proud member of Torske Klubben since 1962. Onie and his family would like to thank the staff of Castle Ridge and especially the staff of The Colony in Eden Prairie for their kindness and support during his last few months.
