  Notes	Bernard Clements, 92, of Westby, died Monday, August 29, 2016. Bernard L. Clements, age 92 of Westby, died Monday, August 29, 2016. He was born on August 22, 1924 in Viroqua to George and Elsie (Smith) Clements and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On September 17, 1948 he was united in marriage to Alberta Drake. Bernie worked as a police officer for 7 years and worked at the Vernon County Courthouse for 25 years. He loved to hunt with his hounds and was an avid ball player in his younger days. He and Alberta enjoyed wintering in Yuma, Arizona for 30 years where they made lasting friendships. Bernie was a lifetime member of Syverson Funk American Legion Post #155 and was able to take the Freedom Honor Flight with his daughter. In addition to his wife, Alberta, he is survived by one daughter, Sharon McCracken of Norwalk; one grandson, Shannon (Tina) McCracken of Cashton; two great-grandchildren: Kalen and Kinley Rose McCracken; two sisters-in-law, Ruth (Marc) Hopkins of Cambridge and Barbara Drake of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Harold (Freida) Clements, Floyd (Tess) Clements, Darrel (Jean) Clements, and Raymond Clements; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Charles) Akright, Lois (Dale) Phillips, and Patricia (Modrel) Shaw; brother-in-law, Merlin Drake and his son-in-law, Gene McCracken who died in 2011.
