  Notes	Called Molly, a daughter, in the 1910 census. He registered for the draft in Virginia, Minnesota, on September 12, 1918. At that time he was living in Forbes, Minnesota, where he was a carpenter for the D.M. & N. Railway Co. He gave his father Martin as his nearest relative. Melvin was of medium height and slender build with blue eyes and black hair. Single and still at home in the 1920 census. He was a building carpenter. At the time of Roger’s birth, the couple lived in Forbes. Melvin was a section laborer. By implication of her obit, he did not survive his mother. Not listed as a survivor in his brother’s obituary. He and Julia lived at 201 Chicago in Peoria, Illinois, at the time of that city’s 1931 city directory. Melvin was a carpenter. In the 1932 and 1935 Peoria city directories, they lived at 270 Center. Melvin was a carpenter.
