She was the informant for the information on her husband’s death certificate. In the 1865 census, as Marthe Iversdatter, age 15, she lives on Tufte 30 in Nærøen, Aurland, Sogn og Fjordane. Her parents are Iver Andersen, 48, and Marte Pedersdatter, 43. Living on the farm is Marte’s father, Peder Hansen, age 75. His wife at that time, who may or may not be Marte’s mother, is Gjøri Svendsdatter. In that census, Iver and Marte’s other children are: Anders, 23, Svend, 18, Sjur, 10, Martinus, 3, Jori, 13, Britte, 7, and Susanna, 5.
