Zip Code of last known residence: 55057 {Northfield}
Shown as Thron in the 1900 census.
In the 1910 census, as Thomas H. Ellingboe, he is a hired man on the Halverson farm in Eidsvold Twp, Bottineau County, North Dakota.
Shown as Thomas H. on his death certificate.
His mother’s maiden name is shown as Sparstad on his death certificate.
Registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, in Montevideo as Thomas Henry Ellingboe, of Maynard, born March 27, 1882. He is employed as a carpenter by the Great Northern Railway. He lists his nearest relative as Marit Ellingboe of Maynard. He is tall, of medium build, with blue eyes and light brown hair.
In the 1920 census, Thomas is living with his mother and sisters in the village of Maynard. He is a laborer who works out.
In the 1930 census, Thomas Ellingboe, 48, single, Mary H. Ellingboe, 82, “mother”, and Mary Ellingboe, 44, single and “daughter”, are living in the village of Maynard in Chippewa County, Minnesota. The older Mary is a widow and was first married at age 24 and came to this country in 1866. The younger Mary has no occupation; Thomas is a truck driver for a gas company. Living with the family as a “lodger” is 23 year-old Charlotte Mostrom, a school teacher born in Iowa.
In the 1940 census, he and his wife and daughter lived in Maynard with his sister Mary in the same house in which they all had lived in 1935. Thomas was a WPA laborer for a sewer disposal project. He had an eighth-grade education, Rose had a sixth-grade education.
The Dalby database incorrectly claims his spouse was Grace Thorson. (She is the wife of Thomas Oscar Ellingboe.)
His death certificate, for which Walter Ellingboe of Maynard was the informant, says, incorrectly, that Thomas never married. He died from a heart arhythmia and from gangrene of his extremities.
According to Joann, who remembers Thomas at the Odd Fellows Home, Thomas had been a “rubber man” in the circus. He had many tattoos, was very thin, and had few, if any, visitors.
His brief obit in the Northfield News, via the Dalby Database:
