20222 Shown as Victor J. Elestad, single and 22, at the time of the 1910 census. Living in Dunn County, North Dakota, on a farm nearby or adjacent to the farm of Thomas Elestad. Victor’s farm is shown as Section 14 or 19. (See notes for Ole.)

Not listed in the draft registrations for WWI.

By the 1920 census, Victor, now 31, had married Lena, 27. They were still living on a farm in Dunn County, North Dakota. They had three children, all born in N. Dakota.

By the time of the 1930 census (April 11th), Victor and his family had moved to North La Connor Precinct, Skagit County, Washington. (Victor’s brother had moved to Skagit County as well. See notes on Thomas.) The family consisted of Victor, 42, Lena, 38, Inez, 14, Edna, 13, Orville, 11, Everett, 9, and Virgil, 3 and 3 months. Virgil had been born in Washington; the other children in North Dakota. Also living with the family was Lena’s mother, Christine Larson, 76, a widow first married at age 20 and who came to this country in 1873. Victor and Lena had married when they were 26 and 22, respectively.

He registered for the World War II draft in 1942. At that time, he lived at Route 4, Mount Vernon, Washington. He gave as his “person who will always know your address” Mr. John Larson of Route 4, Mount Vernon. Victor was a self-employed farmer.

20225 Shown because Tina is shown as having borne 3 children, 2 still living, in the 1900 census. FORSTROM, Berthe Oliviet (I6952)

20226 Shown in birth record as illegitimate.

Does not seem to be listed in the 1865 census.

According to Arne, citing Øyane in the bygdebøk, Bertha emigrated to America in 1861 and there married the Norwegian husmannssonen Peder Olson frå Bakken under Kroken i Luster in 1840. According to Øyane, Berta died in 1868 and Peder in 1908, likely in America.

The Hafslo emigration record shows the unmarried Britha Andersdatter Marheim, age 31, leaving on April 18, 1861.

In his further research, Arne found:

“Bertha and Peder married in Stoughton, Dane, Wisconsin 30 August 1861. They had one daughter there, Oline, born 23 March and baptized 10 October 1862. Later on, it seems they moved to Winneshiek, Iowa, and had two children: Erik, born 15 July and baptized 19 October 1864, and Elise, born 25 February 1866. It seems to me, they were still living in Winneshiek, according to the 1870-census, even if the age is wrong for Peder, Oline, Erik and Elisa.

“I have not found them in later censuses, or death records. It seems obvious, however, that Bertha did NOT die in 1868, and we do not know for sure if Peder died in 1908 as stated by Øyane.”

Berthe apparently died in Iowa, between 1870 and 1874, before Peter remarried and later moved to South Dakota.
MAREIM, Berthe Andersdatter (I4162)

20229 Shown in the 1865 census as Anna Eliasdatter. Dee Austring identifies the family’s location at that time as Storøren gård #265, Verdal, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.

In the 1875 Norwegian census, Anna is at Storøren gård #265, Verdal, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, and is shown as “Sygelig, hos Forældrene (sickly, living with parents).”

In the 1900 census, Anna is shown as Anna Eliasdatter and is still living at Storøren gård #265 in Verdal with her father and brother Oluf. Her occupation is shown as “Husstel fjøsstel (housekeeping and barnwork) b1837!?!?.”
BYE, Anna Eliasdatter (I1213)

20230 Shown in the 1865 census as Berit Thomasdatter born in 1794 in Vestre Slidre. Living with her husband on the Høine farm with her son Anders.

In his VS, Jim also shows her incorrectly as Berit Thomasdatter. She was definitely Berit Johannesdatter in her marriage record.

Shown as age 24 when she got married.

She married her first cousin.
ELLESTAD, Berit Johannesdatter (I1764)
