15332 Mistakenly called Louise Eimerman in a tree on Ancestry.

The “Wisconsin Vital Records Indexes, Pre-1907 Birth Index, Marriages, and Death Index.” shows the birth of a Louisa Bowe in Vernon County on 18 April 1877. (Reel 0286, Record 000202) According to the birth records (VERN 0286, p. 203 for Albertina and 202 for Louisa), Louise and Albertine were born at 9:00 PM. Other records show that Louisa was born at 9 PM and Albertine at 10 PM. The birth records were entered by the girls’ father on June 4, 1877. They are the only children of Claus and Kari to have birth records.

Louise’s gravestone and her obituary say, erroneously, that Louise was born in 1879. Louise and Albertina were shown as three years old in the 1880 census.

Louise’s sibling twin died in childhood. Louise was apparently named after her older sister Louise who died of scarlet fever while Kari was pregnant with Louise and Albertina.

At the time of the 1910 census (April 18th), Louise and Martin, both 32 and married 6 years, were living on Main Street in the city of Viroqua in a house they were renting. Louise is shown as having had one child, zero still living. No one else was living with them in 1910. Martin is shown as a traveling agent for a “Harvester Co.” Louise’s middle initial is shown as B. but that may have referred to her maiden surname.

Found Louise and Martin living in Viroqua, in a home they owned on Maple (St.?), possibly house #122, in the 1920 census. By that time, Clara, Nels, Andrew, and Sever were all living with her.

In the 1930 census, Louise and Martin are living at 122 East Maple Street in Viroqua. The household consisted of Martin, 52, Louise, 51, their daughter Aida, 19 (absent, attending school), Sever, 64, Andrew, 68, and Clara, 37. Martin owns the house, valued at $5000, and the household does have a radio. Martin was 25 and Louise 24 when they were married.

In the 1940 census, Louise and Martin and Clara live at a house Martin owns at 122 East Maple Street and that is worth $4000. Martin is an automobile dealer. Martin had an eighth-grade education, Louise had had two years of high school.

Martin and Louise were married in a Lutheran ceremony witnessed by Ida Anderson and Sever Bowe.

Apparently he married Lois twice. There is also an entry in the California marriage index for a marriage to Lois J. Hatzfeld on 10 Jul 1963 in Alameda County. That marriage was announced in the July 12, 1963, edition of the Oakland Tribune. MOMS lists the bride’s name for the 1969 marriage as Lois Ellingboe.

Survived his sister Ruth Ann who died in November of 2009.
