Army Air Force, WWII.
Raymond Kenneth Lund was born to Sevald and Pernille Lund on December 10, 1920, and passed away in Mukilteo, WA, on August 31, 2018. He was 97 years young. Raymond was raised in Stanwood, WA, and was the last survivor of his nine siblings. He was a WWII vet, and as a soldier in the Army-Air Force, was involved in the landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day. On February 14, 1950, he married Aileen Pryor. They made their home at Warm Beach where they raised their two sons, Tom and Dennis. Ray worked many years at Gilbertson Hardware and also drove a local school bus (where the kids loved him). In 1971, the family moved to Maui, Hawaii, where Raymond was resident manager of the Hale Pau Hana and Haleakala Shores Resorts. When he retired in 1991, the tribe moved back to Stanwood. There he enjoyed his garden and was also a board member of the Stanwood Camano Fair. He was an accomplished cook-from lefse to blackberry pie! He absolutely refused any fashion advice and was proud to have hair follicles on his donor card/driver license picture-last renewal good 'til he reached 100! He loved music and playing the accordion and could not resist the demonic urge to dance to polka music. He was a true gentleman with a wicked sense of humor…he will be missed. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen, his parents, and all of his siblings: Anne (Gilbertson, Selmer, Oscar, Arthur, Palmer, Harold, Gene, Gordon, and Marion (Hendershot). He is survived by his sons, Tom (Laurie) Lund of Jensen Beach, Florida, and Dennis Lund of Mukilteo; grand-children, Jeaneen Lund, Ashlee Lund, Justin Lund, and Alexander Lund; sister-in-law, Elsie Pryor; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Raymond's life will be held on October 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood. Memorials may be made in his name to Providence Hospice. | LUND, Raymond K (I31598)
