She is still living with her parents in Minneapolis in the 1895 census.

In the 1900 census, she, as 25 year-old Bertha Flatten, is an inmate at the School for Feeble Minded in Faribault.

She died of feeble mindedness, epilepsy, and mitral stenosis.

In the 1940 census, she and her husband, daughter, and mother lived in a parsonage in Redfield, Spink County, South Dakota, where Severin Bly was a pastor. Five years earlier, all of the household had lived in Clay County, Minnesota. Anna had had four years of college, her husband had had three.
