Angelo Francis Garafola age 92 of Crosby died on Friday, March 9, 2012, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born on April 24, 1919 in McKinley, Minn., to Joseph and Mary (Talerico) Garafola. He married Jeannette Smith on February 17, 1943 in Aitkin. He worked as an underground miner with Inland Steel in Crosby and Minorca Mine in Virginia. He was in the construction business serving the Cuyuna Range doing cement and masonry work. Angelo graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High
School, class of 1938. He took his junior year of high school off to work for the CCC (Civil Conservation Corp). He was a supervisor for NYA, they were responsible for building the National Guard Armory in Crosby.
He is survived by four sons: John (Jane) Garafola of St. Paul, Patsy (Debbie) Garafola of South St. Paul, Mark (Patti) Garafola of Goodlettsville, Tenn., and John E. (Elsie) Garafola of Anoka; four daughters: Jeanne Rubio of Ironton, Rose Garafola Wright of Crosby, Connie (Craig) Klingehofer of Aitkin and Mary Garafola of Duluth; 29 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife Jeannette, two daughters, Susan Garafola and Angela Bye; son-in-law, Robert Bye and grandson, Jon Ebnet.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby.

Ann Gunborg Lockrem, age 97, of Kenyon, Minn., died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at the Kenyon Sunset Home. Ann, the daughter of Karl and Anna (Anderson) Johnson, was born on Dec. 20, 1909, in Hallock, Minn. Her schooling began in a one-room country school in the Red River area near Hallock. She graduated from Hallock High School in 1928, after which she was employed at Carleton College for two years. Ann married Christopher (Christ) Lockrem on June 11, 1930, in Nerstrand, and the couple farmed in the Valley Grove area. Christ and Ann, as they were known, were members of the nearby Valley Grove Church, where Ann was active in the Ladies Aid. She was fond of gardening, interested in genealogy and loved writing stores of her life experiences, several of which were published. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. The couple retired from farming in 1975 and moved to Kenyon. Christ died on Sept. 25, 1992. Ann is survived by her daughter, Arlene of Colorado Springs, Colo., two sons, Kenneth (Lynda) of Cheyenne, Wyo., and David (Linda) of Blaine, Minn.; grandchildren, Christopher Lockrem of Oakland, Calif, Michael (Lisa) Lockrem of Reno, Nev., Shauneen (Lance) Shalz of Sand Couley, Mont., Colleen (Keith) Midcap of Woodland Park, Colo., and Michelle (Warren) Magnuson of Forest Lake, Minn.; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Doris (Gerald) Wickett of Denver, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Johnson of Hallock, Minn. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Christ; sisters, Vera Jensen, Alva Gunhus, Vanja Knoblauch and Iris in infancy; and brothers, Helge Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Herbert Johnson and Bennet in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at the Gol Lutheran Church in Kenyon, with the Rev. Pastor Daniel J. Dimick, officiating. Interment will be in the Valley Grove Cemetery near Nerstrand, Minn. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the Hanson Funeral Home in Kenyon, and for one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
