The woman on the left is unknown. Martha is in the middle, Anna on the right. Odd personal decorations: perhaps it's the Fourth of July. This is probably from the mid to late 1880s. Cora's annotation on the back is "& friend Aunt Martha My Mother."

Martha's sitting room, about 1913, in Minneapolis
Martha's sitting room, about 1913, in Minneapolis
Charles Hendrickson is seated with Arthur in his lap and Martha behind him. The year is about 1913, a year before Cora came to live with the Hendicksons for three months. The original is a postcard from Martha to Cora but apparently mailed in an envelope because there is no stamp or address on the card. The note on the card, in pencil with somewhat childish writing, is addressed to Cora Anderson and says, "Dear Cora suppose you think I have forgotten you but I think of you often dear Cora I know I ought to write but I am so busy it seems I never get done hope you will come to see me next summer stay all summer Dear Cora write to me your Auntie Martha."
Date: about 1913
Place: 4032 11th Avenue S., Minneapolis

Martin and Albert Ekum
Martin and Albert Ekum
Probably taken in the later years of the first decade of the 20th century after the Ekums had returned from California. Martin would have been in his late teens and Albert in his mid 20s.

The original is an oval picture mounted on heavy paperboard. The studio is "Henry and Jasperson, Viroqua, Wis." On the back Cora wrote "My Cousins Albert & Martin Ekum."
Date: ca 1908
Place: Viroqua, Wisconsin
