    In the 1880 census, he and his family live in Foster Twp in Faribault County, Minnesota. William is a farmer. The household consists of William S, 44, born in Ohio, Lydia, 32, born in Pennsylvania, Dyelen, 14, Charles, 12, Ella, 10, John, 8, Fredrick, 6, Warren, 3, and Mattie, 7 months. All of the children except Mattie had been born in Wisconsin. Mattie was born in Minnesota.

    William and his family are still in Foster Twp, Faribault County, in the 1885 Minnesota state census.

    Linda says, “There is a wealth of information that has been gathered about both Joshua and Lydia's (Odell) families. Joshua's father was Sampson Dunbar, and there is a Yahoo group devoted to researching him and his descendants. Sampson was born in 1721 in Massachussetts, was at least half African, along with Indian, served in the Revolutionary War, as did his son Joshua (and I think Noah may have, also). Lydia, also, had African blood, and there is a book, "The Hanging of Ephraim Wheeler" that contains much information on early Dunbars and Odells.”
