Gayle’s Find A Grave entry for him, acknowledging Connie Ferris as the source, says: “Endre was the fifth child of nine born to Knud Thomasen Torpe & Sigrid Olsdatter Lien. He married Berit Gundersdatter Gjevre/Givre 28 Dec 1848 in Vang. They had six children, all born in Vang. “

His farm appears to be Heensejet in the birth record for his son Gunder.

He and his family live on Bakken, probably the plass on Heen 70/1, in the 1865 census. All of their children are listed in that census, other than the first Gunnar who died as a child in 1858.

The bygdebok says that he came to the U.S. around 1870.

He was a farmer in Hawk Creek Twp, Renville County, in the 1875 state census. He lived next door to the Gunder Gjevre (#2560) farm.

In the 1885 state census, all of the children were still at home except for Betsey, who had married nine years earlier. Also in the household in that census were Berit’s recently-widowed sister Marit and Marit’s son Anders.

He is Endre Knutsen Lien, I13887 in Jim’s Valdres Slekt tree. Jim does not have Betsey as one of Endre and Berit’s children.

From Wang Township section of the History of Renville County: “Endre K. Lien settled in section 6. At the age of ninety-four he is the oldest man in the township. He still retains much of his early vigor and even this winter is to be found chopping wood and enjoying outdoor exercise. His son, Knud Anderson, a bachelor, came at the same time, and died on the farm some fifteen years ago.”

He is Ole, son of Halvor Jögersen Holien and Sigri Törrisdatter, b. 17 Oct 1844 and bapt. 26 Dec 1844 in Vang. That child’s baptismal sponsors were Knud Olsen Helle, Guri Törrisdatter Helle, and some others.

In the 1880 census, he is probably the Ole H Holien living with his family in Wang Twp, Renville County.

In the ELCA baptism record for his son Christopher, he was called Ole H. Holien.

In the 1895 state census, he is probably the Ole H Holien living with his family in Wang Twp, Renville County, Minnesota.

In the 1900 census, he and Ingeborg and six of their eight living children lived in Wang Twp, Renville County, Minnesota, on a farm they owned with a mortgage. Next door, seemingly, was George Holien (b. ca 1841) and family. Others on the same census page included the Gundy Heens, Ove Kattevolds, and Halvor Lofsgaardens.

In the 1920 census, misindexed in Ancestry as Ole Hobin, he and Ingeborg lived with their son Henry in Tioga Twp, Williams County, North Dakota. Ole and Ingeborg came to the U.S. in 1866 and became citizens in 1870.

Ole married Ingebjørg Kristoffersdatter HEEN. Ingebjørg (daughter of Kristoffer Gudbrandsen HEEN and Anne Gunnarsdatter GIVRE) was born on 25 Oct 1848 in Vang i Valdres, Oppland, Norway; died on 5 Jan 1934 in Chippewa County, Minnesota; was buried in Wangs Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wang Twp, Renville County, Minnesota. Som sønn av "Rike-Tørpin" arvet han mye fra faren, men det var vanskelige tider og i 1814 måtte Knut låne 200 rd av Gjermund Rogn, i 1820 lånte han 300 sølvspd og senere samme år lånte han 267 spd av Overformynderiet.

Broren Ola Thomassen og sønnen Knut fra første ekteskap, overtok gården da Knut døde i 1828, stemoren til Knut Thomassen fikk livaure med kontrakt 3.11.1831. Knut og Sigrid hadde barna: Ola (1812-1883) grb i Remmisbrekkun 68/1 Gullik (1815-) gift med Berit Knutsdtr Austreim våren 1850, de reiste straks til USA. Marit (1816-) gift i 1840 med Knut Halvorsen Hagen, Jøvne Endre (1821-) gift med Berit Gunnarsdtr Givre. Ola (1824-), Kjersti (1826-vel 3 mnd), Sigrid (1827-2,5 mnd), og Knut (1829-5 mnd).
