His occupation was shown as “Clerk” on Cloyde’s birth certificate.

Ole has a furniture store in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, in the 1910 census.

He registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, in Rusk County where he was the proprietor of a furniture and undertaking business in Ladysmith. His address as well as that of his business was 710 Lake Ave., Ladysmith. He was described as of medium height with stout build, blue eyes and light hair.

He is listed in “The Valdris Book”, a history of the Valdris Samband published in 1920 (available on Google Books), as “Ole Bernhard Ellingboe Northfield Minn.” His entry shows he was a member of the Samband between 1902 and 1910.

Her middle name is as shown in the Valdris book. Other sources say Quiminna.

In the 1895 Minnesota census, she, as Esther Elthon, 24, and three other Elthon girls: Sophia, 27, Sigrid, 28, and Maria, 24, live together in Northfield. Three of the women are dressmakers, one, Maria, is in laundry.

Two of these girls, Sigrid and Maria, are the daughters of Torger Thompson and his wife Marit, at least as that family was identified in the 1880 census at which time they were in Warsaw Twp, Goodhue County. The family later adopted the name Elthon. There were two other younger daughters and an older brother. Sophia and Ester are cousins of the others.

An article in the Wisconsin State Journal, 6 Sep 1902, says that he came to the U.S. “over 50 years ago, settled two-and-a-half miles east of Stoughton, lived there 19 years, then went to Minnesota. He returned to Dane County 8 years ago last December and since that time has been living with a granddaughter, Mrs. Knud Soine, near McFarland.” … “He was the father of Mrs. J. O. Cold and Matt Ellingbo, of Stoughton. There are three other sons: John Ellingbo of Northfield, Minnesota, Andrew O. and Austin Ellingbo, of Milton, North Dakota, and four dead children (one son and three daughters), two of whom are buried here.”

The article goes on to say: “Mr. Ellingbo landed here following the period of hostilities between Black Hawk and the whites and years before the red men had wholly vanished. He was one of those brave farmers who transformed the woods and the prairies into beautiful homesteads, before the days of the telegraph and railroad.”

Called Ole Olsen Strand in Ambjor’s birth record in the parish records.

He and his wife lived next door to his grandson, John M., at the time of the 1900 census.

He is Ola Olsson Strønd, I636, in Jim’s Ellingboe tree.

Jim says of him in his Ellingboe tree: The foremost rosemaalare in Vang. Sold farm to Andris A. Eltun in 1861. Took family to America in the spring of 1864. Bought farm in Goodhue County, Minnesota, where he painted mostly and was known as "Rosemaalaren"..

Jim, in his VS, mistakenly has Ola Olsen marrying Berit Bøyesdatter Bø. That Berit is his step-daughter, the daughter of his wife, Berit Øysteinsdatter.

He is Ola Olsen Strand, I6881, in Jim’s VS.

"Stranda-målaren" malte kister, skap og annet over hele Vang og i mange andre bygder, bl.a. i Sogn.
