    In the 1938 Wichita directory, she is a saleswoman at Jas E Clark. She lives at 120½ S Topeka Ave.

    Ethel Mildred Sims, 93, Aurora, MO, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, in her home.

    She was born Jan. 26, 1919, in Greenburg, Kan., to Enoch Harvey and Opal (Bradfield) Ellingboe.  She was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for a manufacturing company.  She was a member of the Aurora Church of Christ.

    She married Lawrence W. Sims April 17, 1938, in Wichita, KS.  He died Jan. 6, 2000.

    Survivors include one son, Edgar Sims, Tenmile, Ore.; one brother, Eugene Ellingboe, Lenexa, KS.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

    Services were March 27 in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora, MO.

    Registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, in Bent County, Colorado, as Harvey Enoch. He is single and a self-employed farmer in Bent County. He claimed to have served in the Tennessee National Guard. He claimed exemption from the draft due to physical disability but none was noted in his physical description. He was described as of medium height and build with blue eyes and brown hair.

    Enoch K. Ellingboe and family were living on a rented farm in Valley, Kiowa County, Kansas, in the 1925 Kansas state census. The family consisted of E H, 33, Opal F., 24, born in Oklahoma, Ethel Mildred, 6, Eugene Harvey, 5, and Edward Raymond, 3.

    They were still there at the time of the 1930 census. The family consisted of Enoch, 38, Opal F., 29, Ethel M., 11, Eugene, 10, and Edward, 8. Opal was born in Oklahoma, all of the children were born in Kansas. Enoch was a veteran of the World War.

    In the 1940 census, Enoch, Opal, and their two sons lived on their farm in Garfield Twp, Kiowa County, Kansas. Both boys were still students.

    Enoch and his wife lived in Greensburg, Kansas, at the time of Edward Raymond’s death in World War II.

    Information from Roy Ellingboe. Moved from Wisconsin to settle Lawrenceburg, TN, in 1894, with about 80 Norwegian families.

    In the 1870 census was a laborer in the Town of Preble, Brown County, Wisconsin. There were no Ellingboes listed in the 1872 or 1872-73 city directory for Green Bay.

    In the 1873 Cleveland, Ohio, city directory, he was Gilbert Ellingboe, carpenter, residing at 62 Carroll.

    In the 1878 plat book for Gibson, Gilbert had a 40 acre plot in Section 15, about a mile west and slightly north of Helge’s 80-90 acre farm in Section 16.

    In the 1880 census was single and living with his sister Randa Rumery and her 3 Rumery children in Gibson, Wisconsin. There is no indication of Randi’s marital status.

    From the Two Rivers Manitowoc Co. Chronicle, Tue. June 16, 1891: Mr. Gilbert Ellingboe, of Gibson, cut his leg quite severely in a shingle saw, while at work repairing a pulley that run on the same last week.

    In the 1900 census (June 18th) was living with his family in the “8th civil district” in Lawrence County, Tennessee. The family consisted of Gilbert C., 53 (born Feb 1867), Anna, 44 (born Mar 1856), Conrad T., 12 (born Nov 1887), Bertha B., 10 (born Sept 1889), Enoch H., 8 (born Dec 1891), Arthur, 6 (born Jan 1874), Elma L., 4 (born Feb 1896), and Gibson C., 1, born August 1898. Anna is shown as having had 6 children, all six still living. The first three children were born in Wisconsin, the last three in Tennessee. Anna was born in Iowa and her parents were born in Norway. Gilbert is a farmer; he owns his farm, free of mortgage.

    Clearly called “E.R. Ellingboe” on the Tennessee death certificate for which his son, C.R. Ellingboe, was the informant. Gilbert died of heart failure with chronic nephritis being a contributory factor.

    Both of her parents were born in Norway. Going by the 1860 census, they were Torsin and Isabel Thompson of Springfield Twp, Winneshiek County. Torsten Thomasen Sandness Windingstad, the father of this Anna, was a brother of Knud Thompson, #2355. Anna’s parents were called Tosten Sannes and Engebor Sannes in the record of her marriage to Gilbert.

    Shown as having had 6 children, all still living, in the 1910 census.

    In the 1920 census, Anna is the head of a household in the 8th District of Lawrence County that includes Alma and also Bertha and Bertha’s husband, 40-year-old Lewis Moi.

    According to a family tree on Ancestry.com, she died 11 Nov 1923 in Florence, Alabama.

    Jim Ellingboe says: The Ellingboe family came from "Nordigarden Ellingbøe" in Vang i Valdres. Christopher (1801-1879) and Berit Ellingbøe (1807-1897) left Norway in 1852 to settle in Wisconsin. They are buried in the Jambo Creek Cemetery. They brought with them 5 children - Helge, Anne, Randi, Anders, and Gulbrand.

    Reported on emigration list #18 on March 8, 1852. Left Vang 14 April 1852. Left Bergen 12 May 1852; arrived New York 12 Jul 1852 on Bark Juno., , , , He arrived with his family: Beret Andersd, 45, Helge, 12, Anna, 10, Randi, 8, Anders, 7, and Guldbrand, 5.

Halgerson,” 59, a farmer with an estate valued at $100, Berit, 54, Halger, 20, farm laborer, Meiranda, 16, Andrew, 15, farm laborer, Gilbert 14, and two boarders (apparently): Torson Torrison, 50, “tanner and currier,” and Knute Thompson, 28, also a tanner and currier. (May be “farmer” instead of “tanner.”)

    Living in the town of Gibson, Post office Larrabee, in the 1870 census. The household consists of Helge Ellingboe, 30, farmer, Christopher Ellingboe, 69, farmer, Brate Ellingboe, 63, keeps house, and a 16 year-old servant named Julia Halverson.

    Jim Ellingboe puzzled: What happened to her illegitimate son Niels? Why was she listed in the church book at time of Niel's birth with surname Ellingbøe if she was from Nordland/Lerohl? Was she working on the Ellingbø farm?

    The birth record for Berith clearly shows her mother as Anne Tollevsdatter. Baptismal sponsors for Berith were: Berthe Tostensdatter Lerohl, Dorthe Amundsdatter Mossager, Ingelev Ovesdatter Mossager, Torsten Olsen Qvam, and Endre Helgesen Remmen.
