When the plant closed, they moved to Owatonna where Dave began working for HyLine Poultry Farms, part of the large Pioneer Corn Corp. of Des Moines, IA. He quickly rose to management while he and Lorraine remodeled a farm, raised five children, and built an egg production business of their own. In 1966, Dave left HyLine and doubled production in his own business. He and Lorraine sold the business in 1976 and moved to Arizona for seven years before retiring in Janesville.

In the early summer he decided to go farther west and went to Milwaukee, the later, toward fall, came to the then sparsely settled Christiania community. That same fall he was united in marriage to Miss Caroline Anderson of Chicago. Their union was blessed with two children, Dina and Adolph, both now residing on farms close to Elko. The daughter is now Mrs Chris Christensen. In 1878 Hans Davidson purchased a farm in Scott county where he continued to farm until his health broke down. Eight years ago he suffered a stroke in which he lost his speech, and has been poorly ever since, suffering several minor strokes. For the last three months he has been confined to his bed. On Tuesday morning, November 14, 1935, he slumbered away peacefully. His wife preceded him in death on April 22, 1921. They are now entered side by side in the old Christiania Lutheran Free Church cemetery where the family tombstone marks their last resting place. The funeral took place Monday afternoon, 1 o'clock at the home, and 2 o'clock at the church, Rev J. P. Langsjoen officiating. Rev C. L. Christensen of Northfield, student pastor Hinderaker, and the son, Adolph Davidson spoke in turn at the church service which was attended by a church-full of mourners. Many wreaths were placed on the casket, and several gifts of money were given to charitable institutions, the missions, and one to WCAL radio station.
