    Helen M. Leikvoll, a resident of Little Falls, died Oct. 20, 2008, at the St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.

    A memorial funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Camp Ripley Chapel. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the service at the Camp Ripley Chapel.

    Helen was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Little Falls to the late Arthur and Andina (Isaacson) Wright. She grew up in Little Falls and attended school. Helen was united in marriage to Reynold E. Leikvoll Oct. 18, 1939, at the Congregational Church in Little Falls. The couple owned Leikvoll Auto Parts where Helen worked as the bookkeeper. Helen was also employed by the Morrison County Sheriff's office as a matron for 27 years until 1981. Helen finished her career working as bailiff for Morrison County District Court until retiring. She was very active in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) with a rank of captain. Helen served as the communications officer for CAP for over 30 years. A corner of her kitchen contained the radio equipment, books and ledgers required for around-the-clock monitoring and daily checking of river levels, rural fire department needs and approaching bad weather. She was a First Lieutenant in the Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol. Helen was honored as one of 25 of Minnesota's top volunteers by the Governor's Office of Volunteer Services in 1978. Helen enjoyed camping, fishing, going to stock car races and driving her pride and joy, a 1963 one-half red and white Ford muscle car. Helen was a member of the Little Falls VFW Auxiliary.

    She is survived by her daughter Bunny Tabatt and special friend Gary Martin of Little Falls; sons Arthur Leikvoll and wife Julie of Little Falls and Jim Leikvoll and wife Gail of Little Falls; four grandchildren, Randy Tabatt, Jacki Backowski, Sherrie Otremba and Tasa Leikvoll; and seven great-grandchildren.

    Helen was preceded in death by her husband Reynold Nov. 2, 2002; son Myron (Duff) Leikvoll; parents; son-in-law Lee Tabatt; brothers Orville, Roland and LeRoy Wright; sisters Vivian Demment and Angie Stevens.
