    In the 1905 state census, he is a butcher in Waverly. His parents are shown as born in Canada. He and his wife Mary have no children.

    In the 1910 census, he is a butcher in Waverly. His wife is Mary, age 27, and their children are George and Genevieve.

    He registered for the draft in Buffalo, Minnesota, as 38 year-old George Joseph Perra, on September 12, 1918. At that time he lived in Waverly and was an agent for Manhattan Oil Co. of Waverly. He gave Delia Perra, his wife, of Waverly, as his nearest relative. He was described as of medium height and build with brown eyes and black hair.

    He was a farmer in Fossum Twp, Norman County, Minnesota, at the time of the 1920 census.

    George and Delia were born in Minnesota but their parents were born in Canada.

    In the 1940 census, he and Delia lived in Pembina Twp, Mahnomen County. He was a butcher. Five years earlier, they had lived in Mahnomen.

    At the time of his death, he and Delia lived at 205 E. Woodley Street in Northfield. George was a butcher. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage. The informant for his death certificate was his son, Raymond E. Perra of Minneapolis.

    The death date shown is from his death certificate. The birthdate shown on his draft registration was 29 December 1880. That registration also said that he was 38 years old.

    In the 1930 census, he may be the George T Perra, age 22 and married, who was an inmate at the St. Cloud Reformatory. That George’s parents were shown to have been born in Minnesota.

    A George T Perra married Gertrude Van Oss in Mahnomen County on 14 August 1938.

    The George, age 34, who was an ex-con, and Gertrude M, age 29, lived in Waubun with their (her?) sons, Francis D, age 8, and Robert R, age 4, in Mahnomen County in the 1940 census. They lived in the same house in which Gertrude and her older son had lived in 1935. George had been institutionalized in Washington County, Minnesota, in 1935.

    Mary L. Jenkins, age 79, of Shell Lake, Wis. passed away on October 22, 2011. 

    A time of gathering will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Taylor Family Funeral Home in Spooner, Wis.

    Mary was born on April 26, 1932 to Frances and Gertrude Johnson at Mahnomen, Minn.

    Mary graduated from Northfield, Minn. She was a volunteer at Fairview Southdale Hospital and also was a reserve officer for Eden Prairie. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, fishing and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

    She is survived by her children: Joe (Rochelle) Lillion, James (Linda) Lillion, Jay (significant other Sylvia) Lillion and Dianne (Greg) Park, grandchildren: Heather, Alisha, Stefanie, Calvin, Joslyn, Kelsey and James, brothers: Bill Johnson and Butch and Kenny Thompson, along with many other relatives and friends. 

    Mary is preceded in death by her husband John, parents, three brothers: Walt, Ronnie and Jim.

    As with his brother James, his official records show him as born one year earlier than the Minnesota Birth Records. His obit in the Coos Bay, Oregon, newspaper (The World, April 18, 2001) shows his birth date as October 19, 1939.

    Walter’s obit says he was raised by his grandparents, Oscar and Clare Johnson, in Mahnomen, Minnesota, from the age of nine months. After his grandfather died in 1955, he came to Oregon to live with his brother William in Gold Beach.

    NORTHFIELD -- Funeral services for Steven Craig Garlie, 13 year old son of Dr. and Mrs. A. O. Garlie, who died at the Nrothfield hospital on Friday, Dec. 18, were held Monday, Dec. 21 at the church of St. Dominic at 10 a.m. The Rev. Robrt G. Dillon, pastor, officiated at the requiem mass. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Vance Grosser, Northfield; Dennis Maanum, Chokio; and his four brothers, Gerald, Thomas, Wayne and David Garlie. Steven was born in Northfield on July 4, 1946, and lived here all his lifetime. He was ill for the past three years. He attended the Northfield schools. He is survived by his parents; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Delia Perra, also of Northfield; his four brothers; and two sisters, Marianne and Virginia Kaye Garlie also at home.
