  Notes	An article in the July 12, 1940, edition of the Brainerd newspaper, datelined Dykeman, noted a surprise birthday celebration for her. “Guests included Mrs. Charlotte Evenson, Mrs. P. B. McTague, Mrs. James Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson and son, Gerald, all of Duluth; Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Davis and sons, Gordon and Jackie, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Crowell and daughter, Dorothy, of Deerwood; Mrs. W. H. Crowell of Brainerd, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Davis and Kathryn and James.” Shown as Amanda S. Johnson on Gertrude’s birth certificate. Also shown as Amanda S. in the cemetery record. She is probably the daughter of Frank and Selma Johnson, both Swedish immigrants. The family lived in Maple Grove Twp, Crow Wing County, in the 1900 census.
