  Notes	In the 1865 Norwegian census as Karstein Engebretssen, age 15, born in Aamot. Confirmed by the Aamot birth register which shows a Carsten Engebretsen born 7 Nov 1850 (and baptized 5 Jan 1851) to Engebret Bergsvensvien (sp?), apparently of Kilde, and Inger Tollefsdatter. Sponsors for the baptized child appear to be Gunder Gudmandsen, Niels Gudmandsen of Kilde, Margrethe Olsdatter of Kilde, and Oliana Gundersdatter of Kilde. In the 1895 state census, Carsten, Jennie, Emelie, and 78 year-old Berta Olson (perhaps Jennie’s mother?) are living in Effington Twp, Otter Tail County. Farming in Elmo Twp, Otter Tail County, at the time of the 1900 census. He came to the U.S. in 1882, his wife Jennie in 1885. In the 1905 state census they are in Elmo Twp. Carsten has been a resident of the state for 20 years but only 7 years and 8 months in the local district. Jennie has been in the state for 18 years, 16 years and 10 months in the local district. Farming in Elmo Twp in Otter Tail County, as Carsten B., at the time of the 1910 census. Called K. B. Kilde on Joseph’s birth certificate. Came to the U.S. in 1882.
