  Notes	Or Merl. Spelled Mearl on the 1930 census interview form. Her obituary says that Mearl and Carl resided on a farm near Viroqua until 1955 when they moved into Viroqua. Mearl died at Wisconsin General Hospital in Madison after a brief illness and surgery. The pallbearers at Mearl’s funeral were all Crooks: Otto, Clair, Floyd, Faye, Harold, and Gale.
