  Notes	In the 1900 census, she is probably the 5 year-old Bertha Poe (b. May 1895 in Oklahoma) living with her parents and siblings in Bales or Bates Twp, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. The Alexander4 Family Tree has her father as Oscar James Poe (1866-1923) but her mother as unknown with the siblings listed with her in the 1900 census as half-siblings. The California Death Index has her mother’s maiden name as Humprie. In the 1930 census, her father was born in Ohio and her mother in Texas. In the 1920 census, her father was born in Illinois and her mother in Texas. An article in the 23 Dec 1930 edition of the Los Angeles Times: Push From Car Wins Divorce … Her husband pushed her off the running board of her car while it was moving, Mrs. Bertha P. Dawson yesterday testified in Superior Judge Hazlett’s court where she divorced Lyle T. Dawson. The wife accused Dawson of cruelty and failure to provide and asserted that when she had a major operation last February he refused to pay the bills. They married in Burns, Oregon, December 6, 1915, and separated November 11, last. Judge Hazlett granted her a decree. In the 1932 California Voter Registration, she may be the Mrs. Bertha P Dawson, 2850 Leeward Avenue in Los Angeles, a Republican. In the 1936 California Voter Registration, she may be the Mrs. Bertha P Dawson, 205 N Kenmore Avenue in Los Angeles, a secretary and a Republican.
