    Notes
    • Earlier information confirmed and augmented by Roy Ellingboe, 5 November 1994. Shown simply as Arthur in the 1900 census.

In the 1915 Rochester, Minnesota, city directory, he may be the Arthur G Ellingboe, telephone operator for the C G W R R, boarding at 13 N Central.

Not listed in the WWI draft registrations. According to the records of the Mountain Branch (Johnson City, Tennessee) home for disabled soldiers, Arthur enlisted on June 30, 1915, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, and he served as a private in the 424th Railway Telegraph Battalion Signal Corps until January 15, 1919, when he was demobilized and discharged at Camp Wadsworth, South Carolina. After his discharge, he resided in Dundee, Mississippi and worked as a telegraph operator.

He was admitted to the Johnson City home on September 11, 1925. His disabilities were chronic pulmonary tuberculosis, far advanced. He was 31 years old, 5 feet seven-and-a-half inches tall, and had a fair complexion with blue eyes and red hair. He was “dropped from the rolls” at the Johnson City home on December 4, 1925.

We can assume that he and his family then moved to Arizona because of the climate being more hospitable to a person with TB.

In the 1927 and 1928 and 1929 Tucson city directories, he and Lucile live at 1128 Elm. His occupation at the time of the birth of his twins, was “disabled soldier.”

Clarence B Halland, Chairman of the Cemetery Committee of the Tucson American Legion, applied for Arthur’s military headstone in October of 1930.
