  Notes	In the 1900 census, he and his wife lived in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He had been born in May of 1852 in Maine (as had both of his parents) and was 48 years old. His wife, Eliza A., was also 48 years old and had been born in Vermont (as had both of her parents) in October of 1851. They had been married for 16 years. Fred was a hotel proprietor. In the 1910 census, he was Frederick Stephenson of Gloucester, Massachusetts. He was 58 years old and had been born in Maine, as were both of his parents. His wife was Eliza A, also 58 years old, and they had been married for 26 years. She had been born in Vermont, as had both of her parents. His occupation was “own income.” He is the Fred W Stephenson who died at Eitel Hospital in 1913. That Fred, for whom the informant was Walter E Stephenson of 1811 Vine, was born in Wisconsin on 21 February 1853. That Fred had been a life insurance employee. His parents were Charles L Stephenson, born in Maine, and Marth Washburn, born in Maine. Fred was buried in Oakland Cemetery in St. Paul on March 15th. He died from prostate cancer. The death certificate notes that he suffered until he died and required very large doses of morphine. His obituary in the 15 Mar 1913 edition of the Star says that he was “born Feb. 21, 1853, at Mineral Point, Wisconsin. He moved to Galena, Illinois, in 1857 and resided there with his parents until 1878 when the family moved to St. Paul. He retired from business in 1898 on account of ill health and established a summer residence at Gloucester, Mass. The direct cause of his demise was an operation in Chicago 18 months ago from which he never recovered.” He was a nephew of the late ex-Senator, William D. Washburn.
