At the time he registered for the draft on 16 December 1942, he claimed to be a student at Roosevelt High School. His address was Route 3, Minneapolis, the same address as for the person who would always know his address, Geo Kornder. He would later serve in the U.S. Navy. In the 1950 census, he is living with his mother and her brother Herbert on the Kornder farm at 8205 24th Avenue South in Bloomington. His occupation is shown as cook in the armed services. “He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise; his sons, Alan (Denise) and their son, Sean and Gary (Barb) and their children, Alyssa and Sam. Gathering of family and friends, 4-8 PM Wednesday, July 7th at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Dr. SW, Forest Lake. Graveside service 11 AM Thursday, July 8th at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials preferred.”
