  Notes	In the 1940 census, Bertha Ellingboe, wife of Ole, was born in Norway and was 55 years old. They live at 3209 20th Avenue in Minneapolis in a house they own worth $4000. She is probably the Bertha Ellingboe, age 58, who lives in Milwaukee in the 1950 census. She lives with a woman named Anna Winter, age 72, born in Germany, at 1551 North 47th Street. This Bertha is shown as born in Sweden. She has no occupation and is a widow. Brian’s family records identify Bertha as Bertha Ness Ellingboe. It’s likely that she is the same person as I10694. She took out an “in memoriam” want-ad in the April 18, 1954, edition of the Star “in Reverent, Loving & Thankful memory of my husband, Ole Ellingboe. Died 2 years ago on Easter Sunday. Bertha Ellingboe” The December, 1962, issue of the Valdres Samband mentions that “Mrs. Ole Ellingboe, Minneapolis, has moved to Norway.” She visited friends and relatives in Iowa and Minnesota in the summer of 1964 and then returned to Norway. An article in the Humboldt Republican mentions the visit of Mrs. Bertha Ellingboe of Minneapolis to the home of Mrs. Clara Solberg and Oliver Christianson. The article says that Mrs. Ellingboe was a cousin of the late Olav Solberg and a sister of the late Mrs. John Jensen. The article says that Mrs. Ellingboe has made ten trips to Norway to visit. She lived in Hoveland in Norway. There is no such place. An article in the 27 Jun 1939 edition of the Kossuth County Advance of Algona, Iowa, mentions the funeral of O.T. Solberg. Bertha is apparently the one referred to in that article as “Mrs. Bertha Ellingboe, Minneapolis, cousin of Mr. Solberg, who sang at the funeral …” A later article mentions that Olaf Solberg was born in “Southland, Norway.” There is no such place.
