    Notes:

In the 1905 state census, Gilbert and Christ are boarders in the Caroline Burt household in Two Rivers. The two brothers are factory laborers.

At the time of the 1910 census (May 13th), Christ was still single but was listed as the head of household for the farm in Gibson township. The household consisted of Christ, 26, Helge, 70 and a widower, Clara, 18, Eleonora, 14, and Edward, 16. Christ is shown as the owner of the farm which he owns with a mortgage.

Registered for the draft in Two Rivers on September 12, 1918, in Two Rivers, as Christopher Ellingboe. He gave his address as Route 2, Mishicot, where he was a self-employed farmer. He gave his nearest relative as Irma Ellingboe of Route 2, Mishicot. Christ was described as of medium height and build with light blue eyes and light brown hair.

Christ is shown as the owner of the farm in the 1921 plat book.

Probably refers to this Christ Ellingboe:
Farmer and Breeder of Pure Bred Holstein Cattle
    Sect. 15 Gibson, PO Mishicot
    Came to County 1884
Taken from 1921 Manitowoc County Patron Directory from Standard Atlas of
Manitowoc County Wisconsin published by Geo. A. Ogle & Co. Publishers and
    Engravers, Chicago

In the 1940 census, he was a farmer in Gibson Twp. He and Irma had eighth-grade educations. Living with them was their still-single daughter Lucille, age 24, a high school graduate. Her occupation was “house, private.”

In his World War II draft registration, he gave as his telephone number 7F22 in the Tisch Mills exchange. His address was Route #1, Mishicot.

In the 1950 census, he and Irma live with their son, John C., in Milwaukee.

Living with his parents in the 1860 census. Single and living with his parents in the 1870 census.

Living with his wife Emma and his five children in Gibson at the time of the 1880 census. Also living with them was his son Gilbert and his mother.

The plat book for Manitowoc County showed that his farm was in section 15, Gibson.

In the 1885 state census, there were two Ellingboe households in the town of Gibson, Manitowoc County. In the H. Ellingboe household there were 10 people: 7 born in the U.S. and 3 born in Scandinavia. Of the 10, 7 were male and 3 were female. In the G. Ellingboe household there were 5 people: 3 born in the U.S. and 2 in Scandinavia. Of the 5, 2 were male and 3 were female. (Those 5 were Gulbrand, his sister Randi, and Randi’s 3 children.)

Helge was the clerk of the Gibson/Zander school district between 1880 and 1898.

In the 1900 census, he is entered at the bottom of page 12 of 31 in Gibson, District 67. The family appears to have been indexed as Clollinglog. Still living at home at that time were the seven youngest children. The 1900 census showed that Helge owned his farm, free of mortgage.

The Valdris book, the 1920 history and “manual” of the Valdris Samband, lists Helge C Ellingboe of “Mishicot Wis” as a member between 1908 and 1914.

A note in his death record (ELCA church records) says that “at the time of his death he was the only remaining founder of church in Gibson.”

Knud's brother Tosten had immigrated in 1849, via Wisconsin, to Decorah, Iowa. That Tosten was the father of Anne Sandness (#4574).

The Thompson (Sandness) family emigrated in 1852 via Quebec. On steamship Atlantic when it sank in Lake Erie. They survived the sinking of the steamship Atlantic in Lake Erie on their way to Wisconsin. In 1852, Knud Thompson (Sandness) (1829-1929) and Anne Torgeirsdatter Strande (1819-1889) arrived in Wisconsin with two children. Five more children were born to them in Wisconsin.

Named Knut Sandness in burial record. Knud and Anne are buried in the Jambo Creek Cemetery. There is some confusion regarding the inscription on the gravestone of both Knud and Anne Thompson. "HUSTRUTIL " means "wife of". A separate entry for Anne based on Jambo Creek Church records is mistakenly read as 7 Dec. 1889, whereas it should be 1 Dec. 1889 and the age should be 71, not 78. This is the same as the information on the stone, i.e., not a separate person. Knud is listed in the Jambo Creek Church burial records as "Knud Sandness".
