He registered for the draft in St. Paul as Ed Kraushar of South St. Paul where he worked for Swift & Co. He was born January 25, 1897, in West St. Paul. He is described as tall and of medium build with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.

In the 1923 St. Paul city directory, he was Edw J Kraushaar, a “comp” living at 688 Virginia Avenue.

At the time of June’s birth, he and Meta lived at 688 Virginia Avenue in St. Paul. He was a shipping clerk.

In the 1924 directory, he was a driver and still lived at 688 Virginia.

In the 1925 directory, he was a helper for the Sanitary Farm Dairy and lived at 666 Thomas.

In the 1926 directory, he was still a helper at Sanitary Farm Dairies and lived at 1033 N Victoria.

In the 1927 directory, he was a worker for Casey Dairy Co and still lived at 1033 N Victoria.

In the 1920 census, she was living with her parents on their farm on Portland Avenue in Bloomington.

In the 1928 Minneapolis city directory, she is Mada Kraushaar, a “pkr” for Pearson Candy Co. She lived at 4031 37th Avenue S.

In the 1930 census, the married 32 year-old Meta Kraushaar lives with her parents, John and Balatta Kornder at 4031 37th Avenue in south Minneapolis. Meta has a daughter June, age 6. She was first married at age 22.

In the 1930 and 1932 Minneapolis city directories, she is Mrs. Meta L Kraushaar living at 4031 37th Avenue S.

The last time that she appears in Cora’s diary is March 19, 1941.

She is referred to as Meta Carlson in her sister Gertrude’s obit in September of 1943.

Lived with Al on 44th or 45th Street in a house with a tailor's shop on it.

A Meta Leonard Carlson married Raymond Markin in Hennepin County on 11 Aug 1947.

Ray G and Meta L Markin lived in Phoenix in 1956 as recorded in the city directory. He was retired and they lived at 9502 N 2nd.

The 1898 plat map of the area shows that J.M. Kornder owned a 25 acre plot in the northwest corner of Section 1, Bloomington Twp. This parcel of land today is bounded by 24th Avenue on the east, Lindau Lane on the south, and the Ikea store on the west. It would have been part of the parking lot northeast of Metropolitan Stadium.

In the 1900 census, he and his family live on a farm in Bloomington Twp. The household consisted of John, 44, Prabetta, 29, Willia, 8, Johanna, 6, Matha, 3, and Lillian, 1. They have been married for 12 years. Prabetta has had 6 children, 4 still living. They own their farm, free of mortgage. John came to the U.S. in 1852 and Prabetta in 1888. Judging by his neighbors, John is now at his farm on Portland Avenue and is no longer living with the other Kornders on or near the future Cedar Avenue.

In the 1910 census, he and his family lived on a farm in Bloomington Twp, Hennepin County. The household consisted of John, 54, Babetta, 38, William, 18, Johanna, 16, Meta, 13, Lillian, 10, Bertha, 9, Gertrude, 5, Pearl, 3, and Rose, 1.

In the 1920 census, he and his family lived on a farm, a truck farm, in Bloomington Twp, Hennepin County, on or near Portland Avenue and Old Shakopee Road. The household consisted of John M, 65, Babetta M, 49, Meta L, 22, Bertha P, 19, Gertrude E, 15, Pearl M, 13, and Rose M, 11.

A plat map from this period shows that the John M Kornder farm was on the northeast corner of 98th and Portland. It consisted of the western half of the northwest quarter of Section 14 and the western half of the southwestern quarter of Section 11. This was a 155 acre parcel that was a quarter-mile wide and a mile long with a mile of frontage along Portland Avenue.

In the 1927 Minneapolis city directory, he and several of his daughters lived at 4031 37th Avenue S.

In the 1930 census, he and Babatta lived at 4031 37th Avenue S with their daughters Pearl, Rose, and Meta, and their granddaughter June. John was retired. Meta was still married but not living with her husband.

In the 1940 census, he and Babbete and Pearl and Meta’s daughter June lived at 4031 37th Avenue S in Minneapolis.

John married Babetta M KAMLEITER on 19 May 1888 in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota. Babetta was born in 1871 in Germany; died on 18 Jan 1949 in Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota; was buried in Bloomington Cemetery, Hennepin County, Minnesota. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
