He registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, in Willmar as Robert Elmer Ellingboe of Route 2, Kerkhoven. He is employed as a farm laborer on his mother’s farm. He lists his mother as Mrs. A. J. Ellingboe. He is described as of medium height and build with blue eyes and light hair.

Single and living at home in Norway Lake Twp with his mother and siblings in the 1920 census.

His address was Murdock at the time Ardis was born.

In the 1940 census, he and his family lived on a rented farm in Kerkhoven Twp. Robert was employed by the WPA doing road work. Robert had had six years of education, Lillie seven.

He registered for the draft in Benson, Minnesota, on 15 Feb 1942. At that time he was a WPA employee doing city street graveling in Benson.

In the 1950 census, he and his wife and their five children live in Benson. Neither he nor his wife have an occupation. The household’s only income seems to come from Ardis, age 20, who works as a waitress at a cafe.

He is Andris Jørnson Ellingbø (#I22261) in Jim’s Valdres Slekt tree.

He farmed in Norway Lake Twp, Kandiyohi County. He came to the U.S. in 1872 according to the 1900 census.

A Norway Lake church history says that Andrew first came to Wisconsin in 1872.

In the 1865 Norwegian census, he is most likely Anders Jørgenssen, age 13, son of Jørgen Evensson and Anne Thomasdatter of Pladsen farm in Vang.

The 1886 land ownership map for Norway Lake Twp in Kandiyohi County shows A J Ellingboe owning three separate parcels: 1) a 159 acre parcel in the southern half of Section 19, a 40 acre parcel in the northern half of Section 19, and a 40 acre parcel in Section 7.

In a 1915 land ownership map of Kandiyohi County, Andrew owned 160 acres in the southern half of Section 19 of Norway Lake Twp. This plot was a mile from Sunburg and abutted the county line border between Swift and Kandiyohi Counties.

He died of laryngeal tuberculosis which led to asphyxiation. The Willmar newspaper’s obit (February 15th edition) said that the death was unexpected and caused by a complication of bronchial troubles and pneumonia.

Jim’s Valdres Slekt tree shows Sigrid as #I54394. It has her birthdate as 3 Nov 1859 and her death date as 16 June 1921. Vang church book has her birth date as 8 Nov.

In the 1900 census, she had had 15 children, 12 still living. (The list below includes the 13 children alive at the time of the 1900 census.) Those numbers are 17 and 12 in the 1910 census.

She came to the U.S. in 1861. A Norway Lake church history says that Sigrid came to Iowa in 1861 and moved to Norway Lake in 1871.

In the 1920 census, she is a widow, head-of-household, living on a farm in Norway Lake Twp with her children and daughter-in-law and “step-father” Asle Frövold.

Sigrid died of diabetes.

In his marriage record he is shown as age 30 and his father seems to be Even Anderson Ellingboe.

He farms Pladsen, Vang, in the 1865 census. The household consists of Jørgen, 63, Anne, 62, Even, 26, Anders, 13, Sigri, 21, and Ole Evensson, 74. Everyone other than Jørgen and Anne are unmarried. Even and Ole are tailors.

Called Ola Knutsson Nygard in the Vang C bygdebok, p. 284, an entry which incorrectly has him born in 1833.

The record of his marriage to Anne Olsdatter Framstad on 22 Apr 1855, shows him as Ole Knüdsën Nÿgaard, age 31, son of Knud Thomassen, and her as age 21, daughter of Ole Olsen.

The birth record for his first son Knud also shows him as Ole Knüdsën Nÿgaard. The birth record for his son Ole shows him as Ole Knudsen Garstad.

The Johnson Family Tree on Ancestry calls him Ole Knudsen Lien and has him born 16 Dec 1823 in Vang and dying in Iowa in 1864.
