    In the 1905 state census, he, age 53, and Lena, age 50, lived in the town of Lincoln in Buffalo County with their 12 year-old daughter Elsa.

    In the 1920 census, he was a 65 year-old widower living on his farm in Montana Twp. His son John lived next door.

    In the 1930 census, he was a 76 year-old widower living on his farm in Montana Twp.
