In the 1940 census, the couple lives in Ophir Precinct, Curry County, Oregon. Clarence is the proprietor of a saw mill. Her obit says that she was survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Howard Baker of San Francisco, and three brothers back in Wisconsin: J.L. Engel of Madison, Bert Engel of Chippewa Falls, and William Engel of Pepin.
