  Notes	Immigrated to the U.S. in 1885. From the February, 1938, St. Olaf alumni magazine: “A sum of money has been presented to the Department of Art in memory of Mrs. John M. Ellingboe of Northfield, Minnesota. The gift comes from Mrs. Anna Rorvik of Northfield and the employees of Augsburg Publishing House. Mr. John L. Ellingboe, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ellingboe, is connected with the Augsburg Publishing House as chief artist.” From an obit in the 14 January 1938 edition of the Faribault Daily News: “Her death coming as a shock to her host of friends in the Norfhfield community, Mrs. John M. Ellingboe, wife of a prominent Northfield businessman, died suddenly late Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Ellingboe had attended a meeting of her circle of St. John’s Ladies’ Aid society at the home of Mrs. George Howser Thursday afternoon, and seemed to be in her usual health and good spirits. Leaving the meeting she accompanied Mrs. Arne Winger, Mrs. M. E. Waldeland, Mrs. H. J. Westwood, and Mrs. Ernest Olson in the latter’s automobile. When the automobile reached the corner of Division and Fourth street, Mrs. Ellingboe suddenly gasped and slumped against her companion, Mrs. Winger, in the back seat. To summon medical help the car was immediately turned around, driven less than half a block, and stopped in front of the Ellingboe store on Bridge Square, but Mrs. Ellingboe had already passed away, her death being attributed to a stroke of apoplexy. Pending the arrival of her son and two daughters, plans for funeral services had not been completed Thursday evening, but it is probable the services will be held Monday afternoon at St. John’s Lutheran church.”
