This site's purpose does
not include complicity in identity theft. For this reason, I try to restrict the population
of my on-line database to people who have died. When I must include living people, I hide their data. (Generally, the only people who fall into this category are
surviving spouses.) In such a case, visitors to the site will only see "(Living)", with
an abbreviated name, for those in my database who are still alive.
Unfortunately, if I
excluded everyone and anyone for whom I have not found a death record, the main
purpose of the site, sharing genealogy, would be diminished. Thus, I have compromised by
drawing the line at 1914: unless I know otherwise, I assume that anyone born after that year is still
alive and anyone born in that year or before has died. This will mean, inevitably, that my site
will include some admirably long-lived individuals born in 1914 or earlier who are
still with us. If you find someone like that on my site -- still alive and yet
their full name and important information is shown -- please let me know and
I'll hide their data or remove them. Similarly, if you know that a sibling or spouse
of someone on the site has died and has now earned the right to be included
here, I would appreciate your telling me about that as well. (See the Contact Me box on the Home page.)
If you have a particular
reason for knowing more about any of the people included on my site, or their
known or suspected relatives, please contact me. If your reason for knowing
more is compelling, I will share what I have that is already in the
public domain. The information disclosed on my site is a small subset of what I have.
